1. Tell us about yourself… about your aspirations and about the things that really matter to you.
I am a very driven person — people always think I know where I’m going because I walk with intention, everything I do is guided by my intuition. Even if I don’t know where I’ll end up, I know I’m on the right path cause I’m following myself.
I’m 25 years old, 26 in May.
Lived four years in Madrid, teaching English and then I got a remote job.
After some visa issues, I went back to the U.S. and changed jobs, preparing for a trip to Southeast Asia — preparing meant thinking about how I love routine and how I can do that, how will I find community, how do I foster community?
Aspirations: I want to continue seeing the world and making genuine human connections — with every different culture/person I meet, I discover new elements about myself. I want to work in a multi-cultural environment. I like motion.
In Southeast Asia I discovered that I have a big impact on people. Forming deeper relationships that were temporary was a new revelation for me that I both loved and despised.
2. Why do you want to become a Chapter Host?
Being a chapter host sounds like an amazing opportunity to connect with other like-minded people who value exploring other cultures while maintaining a professional career. This balance is challenging, so I can’t wait to share my own experience while also learning about how others sustainably embrace this “Digital Nomad” title.
I love my job, but I’m missing having in-person conversations. As an editor, I am a leader for the writers and a guide for how to succeed in this field. In-person collaboration.
3. Tell us about your leadership career; the different times in your life where you have taken on roles of leadership and what you achieved in each of those roles (can be work and/or non-work related)
In terms of professional experience, I haven’t had many titles of being a leader, however leadership has always been present in my work. As an editor, I work one-on-one with the writers to help them refine their voice and work while also promoting the values of the magazine. As a teacher, I love helping the kids achieve their goals and foster an environment that is playful but also focused on learning and growth.
In college I directed a team of dancers for a video. I planned and facilitated the logistics for a weekend trip to California for seven people, scouting gorgeous shooting sites while also taking into account each individual’s limitations. While the video is still in process, I found out that I just really enjoyed the process of planning trips.
